Karen Diep-Arwood
Karen Diep-Arwood, the medical readiness coordinator for the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command Surgeon Cell, was selected as the command Civilian of the Quarter for July through September 2023. She was as recognized for contributing to the medical readiness of the U.S. military’s premier all hazards command. “I want to keep protecting soldiers and making sure they’re taking care of themselves, medically,” said Diep-Arwood. She is a 2012 CSU graduate.
Jamie Layhew
The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department has named Jamie Layhew as the new assistant chief for the medical division. He joined the department in 2012. “Leadership is not only about being in charge, but also about taking care of those you’re in charge of,” Layhew said. “I will continue to lead with courage and compassion in this new role. I’m thankful to this opportunity and I look forward to serving the citizens in this community.” He is a 2022 CSU graduate.
Billy Woods
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Billy Woods to the Emergency Communications Board. Woods is the Marion County Sheriff. He currently serves as a commissioner for the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation and the treasurer of the Florida Sheriffs Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and business management from CSU.
Amos Lonokailua-Hewett
Retired Fire Battalion Chief Amos Lonokailua-Hewett selected as new Maui Emergency Management Agency Administrator. He brings to the position 25 years of service with Maui Fire Department before retiring in 2019 as a battalion chief. He completed a bachelor’s degree in fire administration in 2017, and received a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis on emergency services management in 2019 from Columbia Southern University.
Robert Laba
Southwestern Vermont Medical Center recently named Robert Laba its next chief financial officer. He holds an MBA with a concentration in health care administration from Columbia Southern University.
