Michael Strickland
Fire Chief Michael Strickland of Lagrange, Georgia, has announced his retirement after nearly four decades of public service. He is a certified fire chief through the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and an advanced certified emergency manager through the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. “I am truly honored and blessed that I have had the opportunity to serve as fire chief over the last four years,” he said. “After almost 38 years as a firefighter, paramedic, fire officer and fire chief, it is time for me to step back and slow down and spend quality time with my family.” He holds a bachelor’s degree in fire science from CSU.

Jeb Bozarth
Lieutenant Jeb Bozarth of Henderson, Nevada, has been recognized as the CEO of Critical Training Solution LLC, a private company that delivers safety and preparedness training across the country. A former patrol officer and SWAT commander, Bozarth brings a wealth of knowledge to his business and offers Run-Hide-Fight seminars, pre-attack indicator training and mindset coaching. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from CSU.

Chase Horne
Sergeant Chase Horne of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Pensacola, Florida, is one of seven appointed to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. He currently serves as a member of the Florida Deputy Sheriff’s Association and was the recipient of the 2023 Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year Award. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from CSU.

John C. Norris
The City of Miami Beach has appointed John C. Norris as the new public works director. He will oversee the city’s cleanliness efforts, solid waste collection, street improvements and sanitary sewer system. Norris brings 15 years of experience in local government to his new role and previously served as director of public works in Coral Springs, Florida. He received a master’s degree in public administration from CSU.

Timothy Tyran
The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) has announced the appointment of Timothy Tyran as the agency’s director of safety and environmental compliance and chief safety office. He brings 35 years of experience in aviation and mass transportation in both the U.S. and Canada. He previously served as the director of system safety programs with Amtrak. He holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from CSU.

Chirs Shaffer
Worcester County (Maryland) has appointed Chris Shaffer as the new director of emergency services. He brings more than 38 years of experience to the role and will oversee Worcester County Emergency Services, which includes the 911 Communications Center, Emergency Management and the P25 800-MHz Radio Division. Shaffer earned an associate degree in fire science from CSU.
