Bryan Matthews
Veteran Hayward police officer, Bryan Matthews, has been named the next chief of police of the Hayward Police Department. He will oversee a department with 197 sworn police officers. “Hayward holds a very special place in my heart, and I look forward to continuing to move the Hayward Police Department forward through listening, strengthening relationships, implementing problem-solving strategies and providing high levels of customer service,” Matthews said. He is a 2022 CSU graduate.
Melissa Deanda
The Chandler Police Department announced that Assistant Police Chief Melissa Deanda has been formally appointed to serve as interim chief of police. She has over than two decades of experience with the department. This year will mark her 25th year in Chandler. Deanda earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration in 2021 at CSU.
Roberto Filice
The East Bay Regional Park District announced the appointment of Chief Roberto Filice as its new assistant general manager of public safety and police chief at the public agency. Filice, has worked in law enforcement with over 25 years of dedicated public service. “I am excited to be part of an organization that cares about engaging with the public and providing positive experiences in nature and recreational opportunities with safety in mind,” said Chief Roberto Filice. “With a community-focused and team-oriented approach, I am ready to build partnerships, mentor and support career development opportunities, collaborate to enhance our work, and commit to serving the public in my role at the East Bay Regional Park District.” He holds both a master’s degree in criminal justice administration and an MBA in public administration from CSU.
Julia Pitt
The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue has announced the promotion of Julia Pitt to the esteemed role of training coordinator. Julia holds certifications as a Fire Officer 2, Incident Safety Officer and Hazmat technician. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical administration at Columbia Southern University.
Annie Henry
Annie Henry, who holds the title of ‘Ms. of Central CA,’ will be among the candidates competing at the 2024 American Pageants National Pageant in Las Vegas this summer. Henry is a veteran who served in the Air Force Reserves for six years. She earned an MBA in 2018 at CSU.
