Sonya Armstrong
Sonya Armstrong is the first woman promoted to be Battalion Chief at the Newport News Fire Department. She has been with the department since 1996. She was a firefighter/medic recruit and rose through the ranks as battalion chief’s aide, fire lieutenant and fire captain. She is a 2014 CSU graduate.
Marvin Fadrigo
Marvin Fadrigo was recently featured in “LA Weekly” luxury business Curated by the MJF. The brand focuses on second-hand products as an antidote to excessive waste. Fadrigo graduated from CSU in 2019 with an MBA.
Jonathan Warner
The Morgan County Commission has announced Jonathan Warner as their new Emergency Management Agency director. He has been a firefighter for 15 years. “I look forward to continuing the great services already provided by the Morgan County EMA office. We will be expanding our services to our emergency responders in Morgan County,” he said. “We train with them frequently to make sure that we are acting as one when we are needed.” He is a 2012 CSU graduate.
Eric Sawyer
Eric Sawyer has received the COVID-19 Pandemic Civilian Service Medal for exemplary service to the nation as part of the federal medical response to the pandemic. During the pandemic, Sawyer responded to more than 1,800 missions to support nearly 50 states, territories and jurisdictions. He is a current CSU student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health.
Matt Spencer
U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) recently announced the promotion of Matt Spencer to vice president of HR & safety programs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health in 2011 at CSU.
Alejandro Marrufo
Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) has announced the promotion of Alejandro Marrufo to deputy chief. He has been with AFR since 2008. He graduated from CSU in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in fire administration.
Aldo Legge
Aldo Legge was promoted to police chief of Center Township this month. He was a patrolman in Center Township for 10 years and was promoted to sergeant and detective sergeant. He also worked with the FBI for five years. “I’m honored to be here in an administrative role and working with the manpower available,” he said. “I’m taking on a different role, I have a passion for serving the community.” He earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from CSU.
Lorenza Wilkins
Dr. Lorenza Wilkins, who serves as the chief officer of people and culture at the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, was recently named to the National Small Business Association’s (NSBA) Leadership Council. “As a small business and a nonprofit leader, I see daily the importance of being involved and active when it comes to sector issues,” states Wilkins. Wilkins earned a bachelor’s, master’s and a doctorate degree from CSU.
