Office of Student Resolution Policy Updates

Columbia Southern University regularly reviews policies in order to ensure their relevance, compliance with accreditation standards, and their continued appropriateness for our diverse student body. At times, it is determined that changes are needed for the continued growth of the institution. In accordance with this, it has been determined that several policies will receive changes that go into effect on Sept. 1, 2019. Below is a brief summary of changes.

Academic Integrity Policy
Minor edits were made in order to provide guidance on contesting a violation.

Code of Conduct Policy
Minor changes were made to the policy in order to order to provide clarity on how a notification and hearing will take place.

Complaint and Grievance Policy
The current Complaint and Grievance policy will be replaced by two policies: Academic Complaint and Grievance Policy and Non-Academic Complaint and Grievance Policy. The purpose of these policy changes is to connect students with members who are most qualified to aid in resolution of student complaints.

Student Appeals Policy
The Student Appeals Policy will be discontinued. Instead, students wishing to seek resolution for a matter should refer to the Academic Complaint and Grievance Policy or Non-Academic Complaint and Grievance Policy.

If you have questions, please email the Office of Student Resolution at StudentResolution@ColumbiaSouthern.edu.

Is there any changes to accreditation. Specifically in the Healthcare Management field. Many employment opportunities are lost due to lack of CAHME accreditation..Is this something that has been addressed or considered for change?

Hello, Daniel! Thank you for your comment. CSU is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), a national accrediting agency. DEAC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If you have any further questions about this, visit https://www.columbiasouthern.edu/about-csu/accreditation-licensure

      I hope this helps.

Is CSU ever planning on becoming SACS accredited or try to obtain Regional accreditation that Waldorf University falls under which is part of CSU. The state of Alabama may not give CSU graduates credit for having a degree because CSU is not regionally accredited. With the amount of students CSU have enrolled it would be beneficial. If CCAF is regional accredited why not CSU.

Good morning, Mr. Collins. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Currently, CSU is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), a national accrediting agency. DEAC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In addition, CSU is approved for its students to utilize Federal Financial Aid, Veterans Benefits, and Military Tuition Assistance.

      I hope that helps!
