CSU Achieves Accreditation Milestone

Dear Students,

When I became president, the board of trustees made obtaining Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation a priority. Over the last three years Columbia Southern University has worked diligently towards this goal under Dr. Barry Goldstein and Dr. Janell Gibson’s leadership.

Obtaining SACSCOC accreditation is a multi-step process. An institution must first become an applicant, next a candidate, and finally, a member (accredited). I am pleased to inform you on Dec. 2, 2021, the SACSCOC board of trustees granted CSU candidacy and authorized an accreditation committee in preparation for the final step for membership. We are excited to have achieved this milestone and look forward to providing further details once available.

The following official published statement will be added to our website and official documents.

“Columbia Southern University is a candidate for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees and certificates. Questions about the status of Columbia Southern University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).”

Columbia Southern University remains accredited with the Distance Education Accrediting Commission.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ken Styron
President
