Kyle Nicholson
The city of Coralville, Iowa, has announced Kyle Nicholson as their newest police chief. Nicholson joined the Coralville department in 2014 and was promoted to investigations/administrative lieutenant in 2023. “We’re excited about the opportunities here in our department and in our community,” he said. “The department is going to continue to exceed the expectations the community in every shape and way that we possibly can. I’m thankful for the opportunity. Nicholson is a 2020 CSU graduate.

Casidy Landry
Casidy Landry has joined the Cameron (Wisconsin) School District as a high school business teacher. “I knew my passion was to become a teacher,” Landry said. “I was beyond ecstatic when (Cameron) offered me this opportunity.” She earned an associate degree and bachelor’s degree in business administration at CSU.

Michael Rios
The Montgomery County Commission has announced Michael Rios as the newest Montgomery County (Tennessee) fire chief. Rios has more than 22 years of firefighting experience to bring to the role. “This means the world,” he said. “I look forward to making Montgomery County safer to live, work and play. When it comes to the firefighters, they aren’t working for me, I’m working for them and with them.” He is a 2022 CSU graduate.

Trevor Key
Trevor Key has been named emergency services director for Caldwell County. He has worked as a paramedic with the department since 2003 and has served as an instructor at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute since 2007. Key has served in various roles with several Caldwell County fire departments as well. He holds a master’s degree in emergency services management from CSU.

David Hamel
The city of Saco recently announced the appointment of David Hamel to fire chief. Hamel joined the Saco Fire Department in 2003, and has served as a firefighter and EMS provider, and most recently served as deputy fire chief of EMS. “I have always viewed fire and EMS as a means to serve the community and help people in their time of need,” he said. He is a 2018 CSU graduate.

Wil Reed
Gadsden, Alabama, Fire Chief Wil Reed is set to become the Etowah County 911 director. He became a volunteer firefighter at age 15 and still serves with the Ballplay Bend Fire Department. “I look forward to the new opportunity that presents itself for me working for Etowah County 911,” Reed said, “I’m going to miss my firefighters and my fellow employees at the City of Gadsden. It’s been a good 27 years.” He is a 2020 CSU graduate.

Ryan P. Cole
Ryan P. Cole was recognized for contributing to the readiness and resilience of the U.S. Department of Defense’s premier deployable and multifunctional Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command. “I have had the privilege of serving in the 20th CBRNE Command, both as a soldier and now a U.S. Army civilian,” said Cole. “One of the biggest highlights is being able to support those who supported me.” Cole earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental management from Columbia Southern University.

Grant Warner
Southern Arkansas University Tech has appointed Grant Warner as the new director of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy (AFTA). Warner brings a wealth of experience in fire training, safety management and emergency services. “I feel honored and privileged to work with everyone at the AFTA for the fire service in Arkansas,” said Warner. “I am looking forward to the future of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy.” Warner received an associate degree in fire science, a bachelor’s degree in fire administration and a master’s degree in homeland security/emergency services management from Columbia Southern University.

Michael Mills
Michael Mills was among the graduates who walked across the stage Sept. 4 at Bob Jones Auditorium and was presented a degree by Garrison Commander Col. Erin Eike and representatives from their respective schools. In all, over 28 graduates from 13 institutions earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctorates and participated in the Combined College Graduate Recognition Ceremony for Redstone Arsenal. Mills graduated from Columbia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in homeland security.

Shirley Krueger
Community Forever Village in Denton, Texas, has announced Shirley Krueger as the senior vice president of operational development. Krueger has over 20 years of experience in the human resources field and currently serves as president on the North Texas SHRM board. She graduated from Columbia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in human resource management.
