Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) Mike Perry
Dr. Nathaniel Michael “Mike” Perry, Jr., has been Inducted into the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who biographical registry. He serves as the dean of the College of Military Studies and Leadership at Columbia Southern University. Before joining the leadership team of Columbia Southern University in 2023, Dr. Perry served at the highest levels of the U.S. Air Force. In his position at CSU, he leads the preparation, development and direction of academic policy and programs that support military and veteran populations and their families.

David Leavitt
David Leavitt, currently of Nashville, Tennessee, has accepted the position of police chief for the city of Alliance, Nebraska. He retired from the Metro Nashville Police Department after over 20 years of service, which included time as a patrol officer, patrol sergeant, internal affairs, lieutenant and captain. Leavitt holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a master’s degree in public administration, both from Columbia Southern University.

Kevin King
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners has hired Kevin King as the new manager for Jackson County. He has over 27 years of public service experience, with 20 years of work as a county manager. He has also worked as a budget officer, finance director, human services director and board clerk. King earned an MBA with a concentration in public administration from CSU in 2017.

T.J. Cook
The Kannapolis Fire Department announced the promotion of T.J. Cook as assistant chief. He has been with the department for 24 years. He earned his associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree from CSU.

David Nelson
Surfside Beach has named David Nelson as their new fire chief. Nelson has over 35 years of experience in public safety and holds a bachelor’s degree in fire administration from Columbia Southern University.

Terry McGrath
Terry McGrath was recently named assistant chief at the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. He is a veteran of the Lewisville Fire Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fire administration from CSU.
