Patrick Sweeney
Toccoa Falls College (Georgia) has named Patrick “Paddy” Sweeney as the new head men’s soccer coach. He brings years of experience and training to the role and is also the North American head scout for the Thailand Men’s National Soccer Team. In addition, he played college soccer and 12 seasons of professional soccer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in sports management from CSU.
Mary Rios
Mary Rios has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. She currently serves as a project safety advisor and owners’ representative on contract with Microsoft Datacenters. She is a safety professional with credentials from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), including the Certified Safety Professional (CSP®), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). She earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from CSU.
Derrick Thomas
The Lathrop-Manteca Fire District (California) has appointed Derrick Thomas to the role of assistant fire chief. He began his fire service career in 1998 and has led many fire service programs, such as Hazardous Materials Teams, emergency management, and Wildland programs. He holds multiple degrees from CSU, including a bachelor’s degree in fire administration, a master’s degree in emergency services management and a master’s degree in fire executive leadership.
Sean Roed
Sean Roed has been selected into the 2026 Bush Fellowship, a leadership program designed to provide individuals with the resources needed to lead effectively in their chosen fields. He has over 30 years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS) leadership and has developed innovative rural healthcare models, including community paramedicine programs and integrated mobile ICU systems aimed at reducing response times and improving access to advanced care. Roed earned a bachelor’s degree in EMS and a master’s degree in emergency services management from CSU. He is currently enrolled in CSU’s doctorate program in emergency management. Roed was also selected as CSU’s 2023 Outstanding EMS Professional of the Year.
Derrick Jordan
Tuskegee University (Alabama) has appointed Derrick Jordan to the role of chief human resources officer. He previously served as chief human resources officer with the city of Macon (Georgia), where he provided executive oversight for more than 1,808 employees and 1,600 retirees. Jordan’s experience includes 20 years of dedicated service in the U.S. Navy with multiple combat deployments and an emergency actions controller at U.S. Central Command. He received a bachelor’s degree in human resource management and a master’s degree in business administration from CSU.
William Rayner
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District (Arkansas) has appointed William Rayner to chief of occupational safety and health. He will serve as the principal adviser to the district commander and executive leadership on matters involving safety, occupational health and risk management. Rayner brings over 35 years of military and civilian experience with the Department of the Army to his new role. He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health and a bachelor’s degree in environmental management, both from CSU.
