Take 5 with Evaluator Jane Davis

Evaluator Jane Davis has been a part of the CSU family for 16 years. Before her role in the Office of the Registrar, she spent a few years in business affairs followed by one year in academic advising. For the past 12 years, she has primarily trained new evaluators and has shared her wealth of knowledge with her colleagues.

We asked Jane to share more about her role at CSU and what she loves most about her career:

  1. Can you describe your role at CSU? …My primary responsibility is training new evaluators. Given the lengthy training process and the continual growth of our office, there is a consistent demand for training and support.
  2. What do you enjoy most about your job? Just that! I enjoy teaching others and sharing knowledge. I love sharing helpful tips, shortcuts and tools that make the work more efficient and enjoyable for all team members.
  3. Considering your job, what advice would you give to a CSU student? My advice is start now! Also, take time to explore all the options available today. Earning a degree no longer requires attending a traditional brick-and-mortar institution. There are several flexible, accredited online programs – such as those offered by CSU – with several alternative credit-earning platforms that can help students achieve their goals in a more accessible and cost-effective way.
  4. What is your favorite CSU memory or moment? It’s hard to choose just one! One of the funniest was when we were filming a Christmas video for business affairs and Mr. Jimmy (Weaver) dressed up as the Elf on the Shelf — I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard. Another favorite was when life-sized cardboard cutouts of presidents were strategically placed around the office and in the elevator to scare people. This was not the original intention of the cutouts, but watching everyone’s reactions was hilarious!
  5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? In my spare time, I’ll make an occasional trip to Birmingham to see my children. We enjoy Braves games in Atlanta and Pelicans games in New Orleans. I also love dining with friends; Megan Snyder and I recently “enjoyed” the pickle menus from Popeye’s and Sonic! And now that my parents live just one street over, Thursday night game nights have become a fun new tradition.
