Curt Hanselman
The Wauconda (Illinois) Fire District has appointed Curt Hanselman as the new fire chief. Hanselman was chosen from among 53 candidates and is the first chief hired from outside the department. He previously served as the deputy chief with the Arlington Heights Fire Department and brings over 30 years of experience to his new role. He received a bachelor’s in fire administration from CSU and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in fire executive leadership.

Bobby Lambert
Bobby Lambert has been selected to serve on the executive staff with the Citrus County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office, overseeing all frontline law enforcement operations. He joined the department in 2005 as a road patrol deputy and worked his way from deputy sheriff to law enforcement bureau commander. Lambert holds a bachelor’s’ degree in criminal justice administration from CSU and is a combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Colin Hurst
The Alcoa (Tennessee) Fire Department (AFD) has announced the appointment of Colin Hurst as the new fire chief. He began his career as a firefighter with AFD in 2005 and moved into the deputy fire chief role within the department in 2021. “I am beyond excited to step into the role of fire chief for the Alcoa Fire Department and to work alongside the incredible team of dedicated firefighters and staff who make up this department,” he said. “I look forward to working together with our team and local partners to face the challenges of tomorrow, while always keeping safety, innovation and service at the forefront of everything we do.” Hurst received an associate degree in fire science from CSU and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fire administration.

Scott Funderburg
Scott Funderburg has been appointed to assistant fire chief with the Lake Cities Fire Department in Texas. He brings over 30 years of experience to the role, including fire service leadership, managing daily operations, staffing, incident command, and developing training programs and operational guidelines. “I am truly honored and excited to accept the position of assistant fire chief with Lake Cities Fire Department,” he said. “I am deeply committed to serving this community and working alongside the dedicated men and women of our department.” He is a 2019 CSU graduate.

Michael Lugo
The Williamson County Commissioners Court in Texas has announced the appointment of Michael Lugo as the new fire marshal. Lugo brings 22 years of experience leading high-impact fire and EMS program initiatives. He recently served the League City Fire Department in League City, Texas, as its executive director and fire chief for three years. “As the newly appointed fire marshal for Williamson County, my top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our community,” Lugo said. “We are committed to enhancing fire prevention measures, providing fire prevention education and fostering a culture of safety and preparedness.” Lugo is a 2015 CSU graduate.

Brandon T. Stanley
Brandon T. Stanley of Kingsport, Tennessee, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. Stanley has devoted over three decades to fire service and previously served as the senior fire captain and paramedic at the Kingsport Fire Department from 2019 to 2022. Since 2022, Stanley has served as deputy fire chief and paramedic with the department, where he is responsible for responding to fire and special hazard calls, managing staff schedules and training. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fire administration from CSU.

Blake Habbit
Danos, located in Gray, Louisiana, has promoted Blake Habbit to operations manager. He will be responsible for overseeing business operations and customer support throughout the decommissioning phase. Habbit brings 25 years of industry experience covering offshore production operations, drilling and safety. He earned an associate degree in occupational safety and health from CSU.

Eric McCoy
The Huntington Beach Fire Department in California has appointed Eric McCoy as the new fire chief. He worked briefly for the Fountain Valley Fire Department before returning to Huntington Beach in 2006 as a firefighter and paramedic. “It’s such an honor and a blessing to be able to take this spot,” he said. “I’m really excited to lead the men and women of the fire department and continue to serve the community that I grew up in. It’s a dream for sure.” McCoy received a master’s degree in organizational leadership from CSU.

Patrick Stewart
The Marietta (Georgia) Fire Department has announced the promotion of Patrick Stewart to deputy chief of administration. He began his career with the department in 2002 and brings an extensive amount of expertise in various facets of fire safety and management to the role. He earned a master’s degree in public administration in emergency services management from CSU.
