Airports Corporation of Vietnam CEO Vu Phiet Wins U.S. Award

The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) recently recognized Columbia Southern University (CSU) graduate Vu Phiet as its Outstanding Graduate at the commission’s annual DEAC conference in Miami, Florida, on April 7-8, 2019.

The annual conference features an awards ceremony that recognizes individuals and outstanding graduates from the DEAC’s accredited educational organizations. Phiet was among the outstanding graduates honored based on contributions to their career fields, public interests served and how they have used their degrees to advance their personal and professional lives.

Vu Phiet, who is the current general director/CEO of Airports Corporation of Vietnam, earned an MBA in 2017 from Columbia Southern University’s Center for International Training Corp. in Vietnam. After receiving his degree, Vu Phiet was promoted to his current job as leader of the company.

“I greatly appreciate the kindness of CSU and DEAC have given to me. This honor motivates me to further improve myself and move forward in my career,” he said.

In February 2017, Vu Phiet was promoted to deputy general director of Airports Corporation of Vietnam. The company, operated under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, manages the civil airports in Vietnam.

In October 2018, he was promoted again to general director/CEO of the company with the goal of overseeing the largest airport construction project of Vietnam in the Dong Nai province. Called the Long Thanh International Airport, the project involves a $16 billion investment. Vu Phiet is also responsible for implementing a development plan with a total invest of approximately $3 billion.
