July is National Parks and Recreation Month

July is known for many things: vacations, Independence Day and extreme heat to name a few. A possibly lesser known celebration in July is National Parks and Recreation Month, where we can take the opportunity to get out and enjoy our country’s beautiful national parks and outdoor activities.

The National Recreation and Park Association encourages Americans to “discover the power of play and adventure” by finding a local park and discovering something new.

All month long, we challenge you to take some time away from your studies and other responsibilities to enjoy the summer sun with friends and family in a way that may be outside of your norm. Perhaps you could find a nearby hiking trail, community park or even national park, swim in a spring or in the ocean, organize a game of tennis or softball or just enjoy a picnic. You could also find a place to kayak or take an outdoor yoga class. The possibilities are endless!

However you choose to enjoy National Parks and Recreation Month, we are sure it will be with people you enjoy, doing something you love in a beautiful setting.

While you celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month, bring CSU along with you! Snap a selfie and post it on social media using #CSUOutdoors for a chance to win some CSU swag!
