Dear Students and Alumni,
The summer season is upon us with many high school and college graduations occurring this month. This time of year is also a peak time for conferences and events.
FDIC
We just wrapped up the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis where we visited with 110 students and alumni at our booth and hosted a lunch for 50 more, along with special guests fire Chiefs Brunacini, Halton and Lasky and many other leaders in the fire service community.
CSU Near You
Next month we are off to Washington, D.C., for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) annual conference and then Atlanta for the American Society of Safety Engineers, where we will also be hosting a social reception for our students and alumni. CSU will be all over the country so be sure to check out our CSU Near You page so you don’t miss us!
DEAC Outstanding Graduate
We are truly fortunate to have such a phenomenal group of alumni and each year I have the privilege of presenting one with the DEAC Outstanding Graduate Award. This year, the recipient was Tem Frierson. It was an honor to have Tem speak at the DEAC Annual Conference and to represent CSU.
Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month and I encourage you to show your appreciation to all of our military members who defend the freedoms we enjoy daily. This month, we found a unique way to bring the campus together with the mission of supporting our military. Our student running club, the CSU Knights Run, hosted their first 5K race with runners attending both locally and virtually, with the goal of raising funds for the United Service Organizations (USO) of Northwest Florida. We were excited to have more than a dozen virtual runners, including one serving overseas and one in Canada, along with 70 runners here in Orange Beach. Ultimately, we raised $5,000 to support the USO.
On behalf of everyone at CSU, we thank those who serve and have served in our nation’s armed forces.
God bless,
Robert Mayes
President
