Career Services and College of Business professor Ron Signore (pictured above) will present an online workshop for students and alumni who will soon be transitioning out of the military. The workshop will take place at 3 p.m. CST, Oct. 23 and will be presented via Adobe Connect.
Signore is a 30-year Navy veteran who retired as a command master chief in December 1999. In addition to teaching Staffing Organizations and Leadership courses at CSU, Signore continues to serve as a Navy master training specialist and U.S. Air Force master instructor.
“When you consider that most military retirees entered the service right out of college or high school and have never actually experienced looking for a real job or preparing for an interview, they are behind almost immediately and need to learn how to do it effectively to avoid common mistakes,” said Signore.
He and Career Services share that it is never too early to begin thinking about a future after the military.
By attending the Military Transition Workshop, participants will learn how to:
- Identify skills and translate military experience into civilian terms
- Plan a career search in order to use time wisely and maximize productivity
- Develop professional correspondence that is easy to understand in civilian terms
- Interview effectively and negotiate the best salary
