CSUVA president Army Sgt. First Class Edwina Evans, who has relocated to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, has connected with Village Lakeview Apartments in Edgewood, Md., to aid with preparing and delivery of food to homebound senior citizens.

She reached out to Angela Lewis who started the program and was seeking volunteers. Evans said CSUSVA members will volunteer three hours of time on Saturday morning throughout the year.

The next project for CSUSVA will be participating in a walk for the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland in May. Evans said she wants to team the group with soldiers from Aberdeen Proving Ground to put together something special.

In Mississippi, Staff Sgt. Danail Knox will be coordinating a Feed the Homeless effort throughout March and volunteers are needed. Knox plans to reach out to the local VA hospital to offer assistance in April.

Knox is also looking to aid groups that assist the community with personnel living with HIV and/or AIDS. This may be a food drive or donation of Easter baskets. Knox said she is trying to assist different organizations that need help and encourages organization to email CSUSVA for volunteer support.

CSUSVA was established to provide centralized easy-to-use services that address a full range of needs: financial aid, VA benefits, academic support, disability services, employment assistance, social networking and references to Veteran Service Organizations.
