Alumni reception great fun; CSU Board reviews policies

Dear CSU Students and Alumni,

I hope that 2013 is off to a great start for you.

I had the privilege of meeting some of you face-to-face this past weekend at the Alumni Association reception in Atlanta. This was the first of four receptions to be held this year. It was a great time with about 80 alumni and students together to network and talk about the direction of the association.President's Office

The receptions will be quarterly and future locations include Dallas, TX., San Diego, Calif., and Orange Beach, Ala., during the week of graduation. I encourage you to get involved with the Alumni Association. For more information, check out the Alumni page of the website and join the LinkedIn group.

This weekend, I shared many of our plans for 2013. CSU is continually striving to improve and provide an even better quality education and experience for our students.

Our latest CSU Board of Trustees’ meeting was held on Jan. 31. We have a very engaged governing board made up of quality trustees. Below are the most significant items that came out of our recent meeting:

  • The Board approved the following new and/or revised Academic & Student Affairs policies, in which the details will soon be released.
    • Student Appeals Policy
    • Student Rights and Responsibilities
    • Withdrawal for Special Circumstances Policy
    • DBA Candidacy Status Policy
    • DBA Grading Assignment Policy
  • The Board approved the following revised handbooks.
    • Faculty Handbook
    • Doctoral Student Handbook
    • Employee Handbook
  • The Board approved the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan including institutional goals, objectives and strategies. There are many important strategies and tasks taking place this year to move the institution forward. I shared a listing of some of the most noteworthy strategies and tasks in the January Communicator article.
  • The Board approved revised mission and vision statements. These changes were not substantive, but they have made the mission more measurable. CSU’s mission and vision was reviewed during the strategic planning cycle and these revised statements will be fully released once we receive remaining regulator approvals.

I am excited about what the future holds for CSU. It is our tradition to improve every year and 2013 will be no exception. I am thankful for the team of staff and faculty that we have to make it all happen.

Thank you for choosing CSU to continue your education.

Sincerely,

Robert Mayes
President
