More than 2,100 graduates and guests from around the globe traveled to Orange Beach, Ala. for the annual CSU Commencement Ceremonies on Oct. 15 at The Wharf Conference Center.
“I didn’t get to go to my high school graduation because I went into the Army before graduation,” said Trevor Johnston, a CSU bachelor’s degree graduate who traveled from South Carolina with his family to attend the ceremonies. “This was the first time I received the opportunity to experience this kind of ceremony. It meant a lot to me.”
Two graduation ceremonies were held to accommodate the largest number of attendees in the school’s history. Graduates represented eight nations as far away as Kuwait and Vietnam and nearly 40 states such as Virginia, Louisiana and South Carolina.
“I am honored that these students chose CSU,” said Robert Mayes, CSU president. “Earning a degree isn’t easy for an adult student with career and family obligations. It is our job to support our students and assist them from application to graduation.”
