Knight Named Safety Manager in Michigan

Former fire chief, Nick Bonstell recently stepped into his new role as emergency management director for Ottawa County, Michigan. He received a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from CSU.

Knight Named Firefighter of the Year

Jenna Merrill serves as the chief of Ventura County Fire Department’s Battalion 4 in California. She has been at this department for seven years. She is one of six honorees who are nominated by captains of the five battalions of the fire department. She received her degree in occupational safety and health from CSU.

Knight Announced as Commencement Speaker

Chris McKinney, executive director of Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, will deliver the commencement address for the 2018 University of South Carolina- Sumter graduates. He is a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran and received his master’s degree in organizational leadership from CSU.

Knight Named Fire Captain

Shawn Schrader will begin his new role as captain for the Grand Haven Township Fire Department in Michigan. He has worked for the department for 18 years. Schrader earned his bachelor’s degree in fire science from CSU.

Knight Named Fire Foundation Director

John Tippett has been appointed as the director for fire service programs for the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation. Tippett served 35 years with the Fire and Rescue Services in Montgomery County, Maryland. He earned his master’s degree in emergency services management from CSU.
