A Time for Celebration and Giving

Dear Students and Alumni,

The Christmas season is a very special time of year for the CSU family. We work to celebrate it fully and to enjoy the season. For me personally, it is a great time of giving, quality time with family and celebration for all God has done.

As the end of 2017 is nearing, I am reminded of how it has been a good year but also such a different year. For many, it has been a very hard year. There have been numerous natural disasters with many areas still in recovery. Fires still rage in California. For those of our students and alumni affected, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Let us know if there is a way we can assist.

Speaking of helping others, the CSU community outreach team works hard year-round but they especially go the extra mile during the Christmas season. One of the causes CSU supports is the Salvation Army’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive. This toy drive serves families in our area and provides toys on Christmas for less fortunate children. Employees have donated toys and purchased raffle tickets for a chance to win an autographed football from Emmitt Smith. All of the raffle proceeds go to supporting the toy drive. If you would like to support this cause, you can donate to the Salvation Army here.

For those of you currently enrolled, you have a well-deserved break coming up. The student break is from Dec. 20 to Jan. 2, and the CSU offices will be closed Dec. 25-27 and on Jan. 1. You can learn more about the holiday closure and schedule here. I applaud you for your continued pursuit of your degree and I hope you are able to enjoy this short break from your studies.

The CSU team and myself appreciate you being a part of the CSU family. As the New Year approaches, let us know if we can be of assistance. If you have been out of your courses for a little while, January is a great time to push toward degree completion once again.

Most of all, have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

God bless,

Robert Mayes
