Manu Goel of Westford, Massachusetts is the recipient of CSU’s 2017 National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE) scholarship.
NAWLEE is the first organization established to address the unique needs of women holding senior management positions in law enforcement. This scholarship awards a NAWLEE member up to $13,200 in one online degree program.
Goel immigrated to the United States 11 years ago and believes that one must pursue their own success rather than waiting for luck to come.
“It is important to take initiative and to actively scout for opportunities; therefore, I have always tried to create situations for myself and take up challenges as they present themselves to me.”
Throughout his 15-year law enforcement career, Goel has designed and led various programs with global remit, including digital and forensic incident response, insider threat, cyber hunt, digital security and incident investigation.
“Community law enforcement relationships are rooted in mutual trust. The same can be said when one is leading a team, as my role often demands, where one side understands the law and the other understands the technology. When working with my colleagues, I keep in mind their world- that trust is critical, context matters- and I present knowledge the same way.”
Goel believes in the power of education and is looking forward to applying this scholarship to attaining his personal and professional goals.
“Coming from a family where 10 people lived in a two-bedroom apartment, my parents did anything and everything to impart quality education on their kids, regardless of the financial challenges. The quality education that my parents envisioned comes with a price, part hard work and part monetary. At this stage of my life, I want to be able to pay my price in passion, diligence and hustle.”
The CSU NAWLEE scholarship covers up to $13,200 in one online degree program and is applied directly to the recipient’s tuition for up to three years or until the completion of the selected online degree program. More information about CSU scholarships can be found on our website.
