Emergency Services for Carteret Co. Gets New Director
Stephen Rea will serve as the new director for Emergency Services for Carteret Company in North Carolina. Rea has worked with Carteret Co. since 2014 and has 30 years of experience in the emergency services industry. He earned his MBA from Columbia Southern University.

Beloved Firefighter/Instructor Dies
EJ Mascaro was a beloved third generation firefighter and hands-on instructor at the Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC) with years of his life dedicated to the fire service industry. Many fellow firefighters and colleagues are mourning his recent, untimely death. He earned his associates degree in fire science administration from CSU before going on to complete his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University.

CSU Student Runs for City Council Seat
Jon Dahlvig, a former reserve member of the Lewisville Fire Department, is running for a seat on the Lewisville City Council in Texas. Dahlvig works as a paramedic/field supervisor for CareFlite and hopes to serve his community by serving on the council. The next election will take place in May. Dahlvig is currently pursuing his B.S. in emergency medical services administration from Columbia Southern University.

New Interim Fire Chief for Fort Myers
Vincent DiCristofalo will serve as interim fire chief for the Fort Myers Fire Department in Florida. DiCristofalo has served more than 19 years as a firefighter and recently was the department’s division chief of training before taking on his new role. DiCristofalo also served in the U.S. Army as a medical specialist. He earned his B.S. in fire science administration from Columbia Southern University.

CSU Alumnus Becomes Newest Member of Valparaiso Police Department
Reuben Ingram joined two other police officers as they were sworn in to serve as the newest members of the Valparaiso police force in Indiana. Ingram is a Boone Grove H.S. graduate and earned his B.S. in information technology from Columbia Southern University.

CSU Student Awarded 2016 Sailor of the Year
Petty Officer First Class Alfredo Winter has been selected as the 2016 Sailor of the Year for the Naval Medical Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit 5 – NEPMU-5 in San Diego, CA. Winter, originally from Miami, is a preventive medicine technician where he consults on environmental and public health concerns, as well as occupational health programs for the Navy and Marine Corps and their families. He is currently pursuing his occupational safety and health degree from CSU.
