Columbia Southern University Awards Law Enforcement Professional

Columbia Southern University recently awarded student Tawanna Jefferson its first Outstanding Law Enforcement Professional Award.

The award was established as part of National Crime Prevention Month (October) and to recognize CSU law enforcement students and graduates for their commitment to safety, professionalism and their accomplishments in the industry. Many students submitted nominations and CSU faculty selected a winner based on these nominations.

The runner-up for this award was John Repetto of the Franklin City Police Department in Franklin, Ga.

Jefferson, who works with Homeland Security, has had an interest in law enforcement since her late teens. Today, she continues to love serving her community and country. However, this is only part of the reason she was chosen a winner of the Law Enforcement Professional Award.

“Tawanna Jefferson has shown tenacity in the field of criminal justice,” said Heather Holt, lead faculty for Homeland Security and interim program director of Criminal Justice at CSU. “Additionally, she has strong ties with her community where she volunteers with the Red Cross as a disaster response member. Tawanna exceeds the expectations of what is expected from a law enforcement professional.”

Jefferson is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in homeland security with CSU and hopes to eventually pursue a law degree.

Over his 35-plus years of service, Repetto has served with various departments and held different titles including police chief. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration with CSU.

To all of the students who participated in the Outstanding Law Enforcement Professional nomination, CSU thanks you immensely for your impressive nominations and participation!
