Lebanon, PA City Council Fills Vacancy

Joe Morales will be sworn into the Lebanon City Council this week to fill a vacant position, which is set to expire at the end of 2017. Recently retired from serving 33 years with the Pennsylvania National Guard, Morales spent much of his time working for the Northeast Counterdrug Joint Task Force in Fort Indiantown Gap. Morales earned a B.S. in organizational leadership from Columbia Southern University.

CSU Alumni Published in Firehouse Magazine

Matthew Britt, the director of Fire and Rescue Training at Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina, recently authored an article published in Firehouse Magazine. The article was written on ways to encourage firefighters’ tendencies toward altruism (the act of promoting someone else’s welfare ahead of your own). Britt earned his B.S. in fire science administration from Columbia Southern University.

New Vice Principal at Orange Avenue School in New Jersey

Steven Van Dam has accepted a position as the vice principal for Orange Avenue School in Cranford, New Jersey. With 18 years of teaching experience and a B.S. in business administration from CSU, the Orange Avenue School community is excited to welcome him on board.

Murfreesboro Fire Chief Discusses Impact of 9/11 on First Responders

Chief of Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department, Mark Foulks, recently discussed the impact of 9/11 on first responders in an article published in the Daily News Journal. Foulks earned his B.S. in fire science administration from CSU. He also graduated from the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy and is a designated chief fire officer by the Commission on Professional Credentialing.

CSU Student Receives Hero Behind the Hero Scholarship

Melanie Fuller was recently awarded the Hero behind the Hero Scholarship. A Columbia Southern University student, Fuller will use the scholarship to continue pursuing a master’s degree in public health administration. She is married to a chief warrant officer of the U.S. Army and was also active duty in the U.S. Army from 2000 until 2005.
