Ask The Advisor: Learn About CSU Through Academic Advising Webinars

Get face-to-face with academic advisors and other Columbia Southern University personnel during interactive advising webinars held twice a month.

Ask the Advisor sessions, held the second Wednesday of each month at 12 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), give students the opportunity to pose a variety of questions to advisors. Updating contact information in the Student Portal, graduation and accessing the Success Center were a few of the topics students discussed during a recent session. Topics specific to a student’s record cannot not be discussed during these webinars.

The Ask the Advisor sessions, which are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 12 p.m. Central, and the Interactive Advising Sessions – held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Central – give students the opportunity to explore a variety of topics via audio and video.

“The webinars are a great way for students to interact with advisors and program directors (on program-specific webinars) in a way that they wouldn’t normally get to work together,” said Chad Hinders, chairman of the Interactive Advising Committee. “The webinars benefit any student by providing additional information that they may not receive elsewhere.”

Ask the Advisor sessions will be held at 12 p.m. on:

  • July 13
  • August 10
  • September 14
  • October 12
  • November 9
  • December 14.

Interactive Advising Sessions will be held at 6 p.m. on:

  • June 23: Associate of Science in Health Information Science
  • July 28: Graduation
  • August 25: Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security
  • September 22:  Associate Safety Professional and Certified Safety Professional Certifications
  • October 20: Master of Science in Public Administration
  • November 17: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Concentrations
  • December 15: Bachelor of Science in Human Resources

“There is no need to prepare for either advising session,” said David Edmond, supervisor for the College of Safety and Emergency Services. “Come with any questions you may have about the topic since we always have a Q-and-A session. Other than that, all you need is a computer with an internet connection.”
