This spring, Columbia Southern University will reintroduce the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree, a capstone for business professionals who are seeking to have a competitive advantage within the business marketplace and are looking to become an expert within their industry.
Completely online, CSU’s DBA program will be led by a highly credentialed team of industry-leading faculty, dedicated to assisting students with all facets of the program including writing, research methods and choosing a dissertation topic. Carefully designed, the program will help students to hone their critical thinking and research skills to apply learned knowledge throughout coursework and a dissertation.
“For students who have earned their DBA, they have learned a new way to communicate,” said Elwin Jones, PhD, assistant provost for academic affairs, Columbia Southern University. “The way they think, the way they write and how they talk – it’s those new learned ways of absorbing information that give students the competitive advantage within a career opportunity.”
Throughout the coursework, students will specifically focus on topics aimed to promote new ideas and shift the business paradigm including comparing and contrasting the value of educational experience with practical experience, optimizing organizational effectiveness, enhancing professional competency and enhancing professional growth.
“Doctoral degrees add credibility to every degree that an institution offers,” said Jones. “For students who have earned their associate, bachelor’s or master’s degrees in business, the DBA helps to combine all of those together into a unique package, transforming the student from an average job candidate into a preferred job candidate.”

I will obtain my BS degree in May. Can I go straight to DBA
Hey Janice! Admissions requirements for the DBA program require an accredited baccalaureate degree and a master’s of business administration, or a business related master’s degree from a post-secondary institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent as well as two years of business related professional experience post baccalaureate.
I am applying for some scholarships with CSU and specifically the for use in the DBA program if selected. I heard rumors the program was being discontinued May 31, 2018 from not CSU sources. Is the program going to be around for awhile I do not want to start a program I cannot finish.
Good morning, Forest! Thank you for reaching out! We are happy to hear you would like to continue your education by pursing your DBA. We are proud to offer this program to CSU Knights; you can feel confident that once you begin the program, we will help you see it through to completion.
