Meet your Academic Advisors for Fun and Learning in Adobe Land

Do you ever wonder what you need to do to participate in graduation ceremonies at Columbia Southern University? How about getting a degree in project management or finding out how a master’s degree can help you achieve your career goals? Join the Academic Advising Center and other CSU representatives for informative webinars during our Interactive Advising Sessions held twice each month.

Interactive Advising Sessions are scheduled the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. CST and the fourth Thursday of each month at 12 p.m. CST. Advisors hope these varied times will be convenient for students.

“One advising session can cover a lot of information,” said Academic Advisor Kortnie Pugh. “It is a great way to deliver new, upcoming or updated information to students.”

A recent Adobe webinar covered CSP/ASP certifications for students in the Occupational Safety and Health degree programs. A large number of students attended the program and Academic Advisor Matt Smith believes webinars focused on post-graduation and career-oriented topics are particularly interesting to students. Academic Advisor Wanda Polnitz agreed, “I feel these sessions give students information that they want and need to be successful,” she said.

The biggest benefit for students, says College of Business Team Manager Sonya Kopp, is the opportunity for students to interact with academic advisors. “The webinars give CSU students, who do not have a direct connection with faculty, an opportunity for engagement with our university.

Upcoming sessions include: LifePace Learning Advising, June 9, 7 p.m.; the Importance of a Bachelor’s Degree, June 25, 12 p.m.; Graduation and Commencement, July 14, 7 p.m.; and the Importance of a Master’s Degree, July 23, 12 p.m. All times are CST.
