Help Young Women Reach Career Dreams

If you are a parent like I am, you know parenthood can be an emotional rollercoaster. Can I get an “Amen?”

For example, my wonderful daughter Brooke recently went off to a small college in Birmingham, Ala., to pursue her dreams of higher education. On one hand, I am like any mom who sees her child leave the nest: sad and worried. “Will she be OK? Will she eat enough? Will she make friends? What if….?” You know what I mean.

However, on the other hand, I am so very proud of her striking out on her own to gain an education and preparing to change the world. I see so much potential and hope in her. She is a smart young woman who has an entrepreneurial spirit that is impressive. She still has much to learn, but I know her education will provide a great foundation and help her soar.

As parents, we want so much for our children. We want them to have the things we didn’t growing up and help them succeed no matter what. We especially want them to get an education that will allow them to function in this crazy world and still achieve that career they dreamt of every day.

One way you can help your daughter reach her dream is by encouraging her to apply for the Chantell Cooley Leadership Scholarship for Women at Waldorf College, CSU’s sister institution. As you may know, Waldorf is an intimate, liberal arts college in Iowa that offers more than 100 years of academic excellence. Waldorf has some great degree offerings such as business, English, organizational leadership, communications, history and education. Also, I think you will be pleased to know that Waldorf students are not a number, they are vital adults learning how to succeed. The college’s small campus and great teacher-student ratio lets them be who they are while getting a valuable education.

We created this scholarship to help make college more affordable for young women while helping them form mentoring relationships. This scholarship offers fully paid scholarships for up to four years to incoming female students who participate in one of several co-curricular activities at Waldorf including campus ministry, service learning/Rotaract, entrepreneurship, honors, STEM-biology, historia, digital media and creative writing.

I encourage you to take a look at Waldorf College and this wonderful scholarship. Take a moment to visit www.Waldorf.edu/Cooley to learn more about the scholarship and fill out an online application.  Please take this opportunity to help your little girl reach her dreams!
