CSU will present two preparation workshops for safety professional exams on Oct. 17-22 at the CSU Center for Continuing Education in Orange Beach, Ala.

The first workshop, set for Oct. 17-19, will help individuals prepare for the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) exam.

In the ASP workshop, individuals will work and discuss about 350 questions typical of those encountered on the exam. Answers are given explanation so students gain an understanding of the subject matter. The ASP is considered the start of the process toward achieving the Certified Safety Professional certification.

In fact, the second workshop offers preparation for the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) exam. This five and one-half hour computer-delivered examination consists of 200 questions that examine the candidate’s applied knowledge and the application of experience gained through professional practice.

The CSP workshop, scheduled on Oct.20-22, covers the four areas of the exam: engineering, management, information management and communications, and professional conduct and ethics. The class will include lectures, sample problems and discussions on a variety of subjects.

Leading these workshops will be David Wheeler, a retired senior non-commissioned officer of the United States Air Force who is a former faculty member of the Community College of the Air Force and has a Master Instructor rating.

As owner of Las Vegas Safety Workshops, LLC, Wheeler demonstrates expertise in the technical subject matter of certification exam blueprints and is a recognized curriculum designer, researcher and facilitator of Instructional Systems Design learning principles.

Wheeler has more than 35 years of experience in the environmental, safety and health field and has been conducting ASP, CSP, Occupational Health and Safety Technologist and Construction Health, and Safety Technician preparation workshops since 2002.
