Angie Keys understands that education is about creating and honing potential. As the recent winner of the CSU Learning Partner Scholarship, she wants to earn a bachelor’s degree in human resource management so she can share her potential with others.
“I chose the human resource field because it will allow me to help people realize their full potential. I’ve found that many people don’t fully understand what they are good at and what they want to do,” said Keys, a CSU student who works at American Water Works in Pensacola, Fla.
“I realized my fulfillment later in life and was greatly appreciative to those who helped me to discover it. I currently work in a management capacity in the area of customer service and my position has allowed me to meet and interact with various personalities. It is during these interactions that I’ve discovered that I have a flair for helping others discover their passions and helping them pave the path to successfully achieving them.”
The Learning Partner Scholarship is awarded to employees/members of companies or organizations that partner with CSU. An essay contest is conducted to determine the winner of the scholarship which covers tuition for up to 24 months for one specific online degree program with CSU.
American Water Works partners with CSU and its employees enjoy eligibility for a 10 percent discount on tuition and exclusive scholarship opportunities. Keys will use the award to continue her online degree in human resource management.
“As an adult, I’ve learned to truly appreciate the value of education and its importance in my life. I’m very grateful for the structure that Columbia Southern offers to working students. I’ve been able to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better, while working full-time and being a full-time single parent. While this has been a challenging feat, I feel a proud sense of accomplishment when each term is completed,” said Keys.

I agree, the partnership scholarship is a great opportunity to complete a degree. I am completing my Master’s degree with the partnership scholarship being very appreciative for the opportunity. I hope to be able to keep my 3.5 grade average to keep the scholarship. If not, I would have to drop-out.
