Give yourself a gift for your well-being

During this holiday season, have you thought about what gift you would give to yourself? I am not talking about material things, but a gift that help you to move forward in life. A gift that would help your character or well-being.

For example, I am always needing extra confidence especially when I am facing new projects.  Probably the most important gift this Christmas that I would like is the ability to not take on too many projects at work.  Having that balance is so important to me.

In the past, I remember I would have burnout at least three to four times a year because of overburdening myself.  You know when just get so tired of pushing and you lose sight of the vision for your life.  Once I realized that I can only take on so many projects — and be good at them — my life changed for the better.

I am now selective and I know my limits. But as Edward Everett Hale said: “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”

It is always good to have a balance in life in work and family.  I am constantly working to educate myself to help my character.  I think we never stop growing and learning.  We always should strive to be the best at what we do.  Learning to conquer insecurities and short-comings will help you become the person you want to be.

Gift ideas for yourself:

  • Learn to like yourself
  • Be confident
  • Make time to read self-help books
  • Listen to others
  • Be assertive, not aggressive
  • Listen with your heart
  • Find your talents, then zone in on them
  • Don’t take on too many projects so you don’t get overwhelmed
  • Keep family first
  • Take time off throughout out the year
