Humphrey, a detective with the Foley (Ala.) Police Department, was selected as the 2013 recipient of the Miriam Shehane Award, which was presented at the 11th annual Governor’s Conference for Law Enforcement Training in Montgomery, Ala., in late May. Winegrass Angel House and Victims of Crime and Leniency honor outstanding individuals who exemplify the long-term commitment of those who work with victims. The award was named for Miriam Shehane who became a victim advocate in the aftermath of the murder of her daughter in 1976. Humphrey has been a domestic violence investigator for Foley Police Department since 2010.
