Webinars on punctuation, capitalization on tap

We will not be having a webinar on Thursday, Oct. 18 because of CSU’s Open House activities.

SLS 1000 Overview
2 p.m. CST, Oct. 25 – Since SLS 1000 is often the first course at CSU, many students have questions about some of the assignments and how an online class works. This webinar is designed to go through the course assignments and give a few tips on online learning.

Apostrophe or No Apostrophe: That Is the Question.
2 p.m. CST, Nov. 1 – Apostrophe mistakes are among the most common punctuation abuses. Although their use can sometimes be simple and clear, there are also a few apostrophe rules that can be tricky. Tune in to this webinar and become a pro at recognizing when an apostrophe should and should not be used.

A Capital Idea!
2 p.m. CST, Nov. 8 – Sometimes the simple rules of capitalization are not enough for a student to confidently identify whether or not a word should be capitalized. Students come across all kinds of tricky words that stump them when it comes to capitalization. This webinar has been created especially for students who have to use historical, political, Latin, business and scientific words in their writing. It’s time to stop being afraid of capitalization!

Using First and Second Person
2 p.m. CST, Nov. 15 – This webinar will discuss when it is appropriate to use first and second person in academic writing, and it will provide alternative methods to using “I,” “you,” or “we.”
