Adjectives, run-ons and research, oh my!

Adjectives and Adverbs
2 p.m. Sept. 20 CST –This webinar will discuss these basic sentence elements and will go over how each is used. It will also explain how to tell the difference between the two.

Active and Passive Voice
2 p.m. Sept. 27 CST – This webinar will help students understand the difference between active and passive voice and when to use the appropriate voice. Most of the time, academic writing calls for active voice; however, it is not uncommon to come across passive voice, too. This webinar will cover how to change passive voice to active voice as most people are more apt to write in passive voice without knowing it. Students will also be able to recognize that active voice is more interesting than passive voice.

Run-on Sentences and Sentence Fragments
2 p.m. Oct. 4 CST – This webinar will explain two different sentence issues – fragments and run-on sentences. It will explain what fragments and run-ons are and explore different ways to correct them. This webinar will be beneficial to all students as these are common issues in writing.

Informative Research Papers
2 p.m. Oct. 11 CST – This webinar is designed to help students needing to write an informative research paper to fulfill the requirements of a research project. College of Safety students may especially benefit from this webinar, as it covers issues such as researching and citing OSHA sources. Specific topics also include the thesis statement, body of the paper, and writing an effective conclusion.
