James Olds, who teaches in the College of Safety and Emergency Services, recently received the Thomas Yatabe award from the Florida State Emergency Response Commission. The award is given out annually to the one individual in each respective Local Emergency Planning Council who has done the most work at reducing the impact of hazardous materials. The award was presented at the Lakeland, Fla., City Commission meeting on Jan. 17, where he is employed as the Safety and Emergency Management manager.
