Webinars offer assistance with writing, math

Upcoming WebinarsThe Success Center invites all CSU students to attend the following seminars for assistance with writing or math. The free webinars do not require registration and students are instructed to sign in as guests.

Writing Center Webinars

“Who said it – Putting it in your own words”
2 p.m. (CST) Sept. 22:

This webinar will cover the topics of paraphrasing and summarizing which will strengthen your writing skills. It will focus on the difference between paraphrasing and summarizing and the importance of using them to support your own ideas. This webinar is for anyone who struggles with paraphrasing and summarizing in undergraduate and graduate courses at CSU.

“Resume Writing”
2 p.m. (CST) Oct. 6:

This webinar will introduce the basics of designing a resume to fit the position that the student is seeking. We will be discussing the importance of a well-constructed resume. During the webinar, students will learn proper formatting of the standard resume including proper font size, acceptable length and margin settings. Students will be instructed on the sequencing of prior work experience and the importance of using power words on their resume. The webinar may be limited in participant space; however, it will be available to view on demand a week after the live session takes place.

“Combining Like Terms and Unit 1 Study Session” 
3:30 p.m. (CST) Sept. 15

This webinar will cover the definition of terms and specifically what are like terms. It will look at how to combine like terms and why this is a useful technique. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1100 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.

“Solving Inequalities”
4:30 p.m. (CST) Sept. 15

This webinar will explore how to solve inequalities algebraically. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1150 students, but anyone can attend who wants a refresher on math concepts.

“Solve for a given Variable”
2 p.m. (CST) Sept. 16

This webinar will cover how to solve for one variable when there are many variables in the equation. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1150 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.

“Downloading Data Files and Question and Answer Session”
4 p.m.(CST) Sept. 19

This webinar will cover how to access the software and data files necessary for success in ITC 3001. It will also cover basic features of the Microsoft Office 2010 suite. This webinar is for anyone currently enrolled in ITC 3001.

“Question and Answer Session”
3 p.m. (CST) Sept. 21 

This webinar will allow students to ask questions from their MA 1140 course, and a math specialist will answer these questions. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1140 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.

“Solving Equations”
3 p.m. (CST) Sept.22

This webinar will cover the steps for solving an equation as well as provide demonstrations for solving different types of equations. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1100 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.

“Graphing Lines”
6 p.m. (CST) Sept. 22

This webinar will cover how to graph lines in MyMathLab. It will also cover how to graph a line given different equations. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1150 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.

3 p.m. (CST) Sept. 29

This webinar will allow students to ask questions from their MA 1100 course, and a math specialist will answer these questions. This webinar may be most beneficial to MA 1100 students, but anyone can attend that wants a refresher on math concepts.
