Columbia Southern University plans to upgrade our current version (9.0) of Blackboard to version 9.1 on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. During this time, Blackboard will be unavailable beginning at 1 a.m. CDT Wednesday until the close of business on Friday, May 27, 2011 for faculty and students.
Also, during the week of May 25, CSU will be launching a new and improved myCSU Student Portal.
To accommodate all of these changes, CSU is making the following allowances to those affected by these upgrades:
• All per-course or open-enrolled students will be given a seven-day course extension.
• All term students have the following deadline extensions regarding discussion board conversations:
o Initial discussion board posting will be due midnight Monday, May 30 (instead of Saturday, May 28)
o Discussion board posting response (second posting) and unit assessment will be due by midnight Thursday, June 2 (instead of Tuesday, May 31)
After the maintenance period ending at 12 a.m. CDT Friday, May 27, please contact our Technical Support Team if you are experiencing difficulty at techsupport@columbiasouthern.edu or (877) 399-1063. To further assist you, technical support will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT) Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29.
Thank you for your patience during these upgrades. We hope this upgrade offers increased functionality and organization to optimize your student experience.
What does this mean for iPad users? Better functionality, or worse, or the same?
According to our IT department, the iPad functionality will be the same.
Will this upgrade to the blackboard allow us to use the blackboard app available in the apple app store (not sure if there is an android app too)?
According to the IT department: The upgrade did not enable the Blackboard App for the iphone/iPad. We have plans to install the building block in the near future.
