CSU discontinuing four classes

The CSU College of Arts and Sciences recently announced the discontinuation of several courses.

Eastern Civilization I and II (HY 2050 and HY 2060) and Spanish I and II (SPA 1010 and SPA 1020) will soon be removed from course offerings. These classes will continue to be available for enrollment in both the per course and term enrollment systems until May 10, 2011, which also coincides with the last day to register for Term 5B.

Students who have not yet passed these classes as part of their course requirements are urged to contact their academic advisor for enrollment options.

The College of Business also has discontinued courses including: Professional Selling Methods (MAR 2261); Retail Management (MAR 3840); Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism (MAR 4680); Destination Marketing and Tourism Geography (BHM 3951); Special Events Management for Hospitality and Tourism (BHM 3200) and Food and Beverage Service Management (BHM 4553).

Quick question what is happening to these classes are they coming back later? I just changed my degree plan to business; I also finished HY 2050 and was planning to complete HY 2060.

The College of Arts & Sciences collaborated with the Office of the Registrar and Curriculum Development in looking at student enrollments in order to make the decision to phase out Spanish I and II and Eastern Civilization I and II. These courses will be available for enrollment in both the per course and term enrollment systems up until 5/10/2011, which also coincides with the last day to register for Term 5B. There are other interesting courses students can take in order to meet the history and communication/humanities elective requirements. We are currently looking into developing new history courses to add to the program.
